It’s All About the Lens

It was definitely a tale of two whistle-blowers this week as Bradley Manning was acquitted of aiding the enemy but found guilty on 20 charges, resulting in what will could be a long jail sentence, and Edward Snowden was granted asylum in Russia and finally allowed to leave the airport (bet his parking fee was huge)  🙂  . Both cases bring some troubling insights to us as a nation.  Both men thought they were standing up for the “greater good.”  But, for some reason, Snowden’s seems more oddly selfish than Manning’s leak. It’s one thing to be caught in the horrors of war and want to show what really is happening during the carnage; it’s another to take a cushy job with the NSA for the purpose of gathering data about how we gather data.  Sometimes, I wonder if the wrong one isn’t sitting behind bars.

Then, as if we don’t have enough egg on our national faces – we have our buddy Anthony Weiner making the news again with his poor choices, and sexual issues.  The sad/funny thing is that Republicans are taking it sooo seriously they are actually trying to smear Hillary Clinton in this mire by suggesting the only reason Weiner’s wife doesn’t jump off the sinking ship is because Hillary stood by her husband and mentored the younger woman to do the same. How ridiculous!  Maybe, just maybe, she loves him – like many a woman loves their addicted spouse. Or maybe she’s planning to take a cruise with him and push him overboard. We don’t really now. And we shouldn’t care.  What we should care about is the fact the city of New York deserves something called Civic Pride – and a phone sexting addict is not going to give it to them. We should care about that – and if he had one ounce of common sense – Anthony Weiner would care too – and drop out of this race.
